Grace Rochford makes one of a kind canvas floorcloths, table runners, placemats and game boards.
The floorcloths she makes are similar to ones commonly used in early American homes prior to the use of linoleum and modern day carpeting. They were originally used in European homes as an inexpensive way to replicate the elegant patterned floors found in luxury homes.
Floorcloths have been enjoying a revival since the 1980’s when interest in historic American decor increased. Several early presidents are believed to have used similar floor coverings in their homes.
