Steven Harris is a lifelong woodcrafter whose output dramatically increased after he became an empty nester. A Father’s Day gift of a lathe led to increased production and the need to find new homes for his growing inventory.
He makes a range of functional and artistic items including live edge slab tables, custom wooden pens, bowls, cutting boards, treasure boxes and pepper grinders. Most of his crafting is with exotic woods such as Cocobolo, Olivewood from Bethlehem, Monkey Pod and Khoa. In addition to these imported woods, he looks for wood with an interesting back story. Select items are crafted from old bourbon barrels, theatre stage sets, battleships and historic sites.
Steven really enjoys chatting with Sugarloaf Crafts Festival goers and finds new craft inspiration from these conversations!
