When Steven Van Buren and his wife lived in Germany in the mid-1990’s, they would frequently scour antique shops and flea markets for art nouveau ceramic tiles. They moved back to the U.S. in 1996, bringing a collection of 20 tiles with them.
His ample tile collection is sourced from Germany, England and Belgium. Many of his authentic antique tiles originally hung in home, bake shops, churches and subways. Steven learned to make his own custom frames to match the tiles.
Steven researches the origin of each tile to determine its authenticity and includes some historical information with each tile.
