Wood Weaving

Hometown: Denver, PA

Artist Website

In 1986, Wanda Summers accompanied a friend to a basket weaving class for new mother’s at her church. She was fascinated by this ancient craft right from the beginning and soon began creating baskets for sale. Six months later, she entered her first show and sold every basket in the first hour!

Her signature piece is a woven star which she has been making continuously since she started weaving. She makes white wash baskets and baskets woven on wrought iron. Best sellers are organizing baskets for the bathroom and a slanted organizer. She works with split ash, poplar, sea grass and iron.

Wanda enjoys coming up with new baskets designs and each season she unveils a few new ones. She also enjoys traveling to arts and crafts shows, especially when she happens upon quaint, historic places for the first time.
