If there’s one thing sculptor Marty Silverman does better than everything else, it’s harness the beauty of nature in each and every one of his pieces. His company, The Fountain and Sculpture Garden, offers a selection of one-of-a-kind stone sculptures that are somehow simultaneously ethereal and down to earth. Silverman employs a direct carving method using stone sculptor’s tools to hammer and chisel each piece, which he does by memory and whim, rarely using a sketch or model. The result is a fine art sculpture that captures the imagination.
The Fountain and Sculpture Garden is based in Jackson, NJ, where Silverman makes the majority of his ornamental sculptures in his studio using unique materials such as alabaster stone that has been imported from all around the world. After it’s been carved, Silverman uses a special polishing process to produce his signature glossy finish. At Sugarloaf Craft Festivals, you’ll be able to see and touch Silverman’s work in real life. You’ll also get a chance to meet and greet with this popular artist and perhaps even experience one of his on-site demonstrations.
