Kevin Ritter and John Rymer create tropical-themed paintings of shoreline wildlife native to Central Florida. They paint with alcohol ink which produces vibrant colors and creates a watery bubbly effect. Their business is named for the tiny island of Mungo Key near St. Petersburg, FL. Kevin says, though the island is not his physical home, he considers it his spiritual home.
Prior to painting, Kevin and John made and sold clay work for about 25 years. After the crash of 2008-09, many of the galleries that bought their work went out of business. They felt ripe for a change of medium and took up painting.
When not traveling to art shows, the pair enjoy living in eclectic, artist-friendly Gulfport, FL.
