Sheila Rhodes and her husband, Jason, moved to Harkeysville, PA in 2009, and dove into creating a self-sustaining garden.
Sheila wanted to see if they would be able to harvest enough from their vegetable garden to carry them through the winter. She began busily canning salsa, tomatoes, pickles and jams. Through continual experimentation, she developed flavorful low-sugar jam recipes using just fresh fruit, herbs and spices.
Enthusiastic family and friends told her to sell her wares at area farmers markets and from there, the business continued to grow steadily. Today, Small Batch Kitchen sells a full line of sweet and savory fruit spreads, beer spreads and salt seasoning blends.
Each batch of product is made by hand using locally grown produce and Sheila’s low sugar recipes. Sample some of these small batch products at Sugarloaf Crafts Festival.
