Lesley Reich participated in her first crafts show in Ann Arbor, MI in 1972. She made $100, the equivalent of her clerk typist salary, and she was instantly hooked on craft shows.
She makes hand thrown porcelain vases, bowls and other vessels with hand lettered messages on themes of love, family, friendship and philosophy. All her pieces are lead-free and dishwasher, oven and microwave- safe.
Lesley started writing messages on her pottery while making a piece for a friend to give as a wedding gift. She began with a handful of quotations about life, sisters and friendship. Her daughter pointed out that she didn’t have message about daughters so Lesley created one. She added more over time and now she has about a dozen daughter-themed messages and many others!
Soon pottery with hand written messages became what she was known for. She has handcrafted bowls for the FDR Library Gift Shop, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, the Baltimore Aquarium and ornaments for the White House Christmas tree.
