While majoring in sculpture at RISD, Fran Michaels explored various mediums including clay, wood, stone and plastic. But it was at the school foundry that she discovered her passion for bronze.
She creates unique bronze belt buckles and cast jewelry pieces, drawing inspiration from the intricate details seen in ancient Chinese artifacts.
Her work ethic is also shaped by many years observing her father at work designing and building complex railroad networks. She hopes to embody the same enthusiasm and dedication for her craft that her father exhibited with his model trains.
