Renata Mastroti came to the United States from her native Brazil to apprentice at Rochester Folk Art Guild in New York. She met her husband there and eventually they settled in Annapolis, MD. She worked in many artistic mediums, including majolica painting before discovering the thrill of making wheel thrown pottery.
She worked in retail and craft centers before starting her own home studio. She makes functional stoneware pieces, including plates, bowls, teapots, trays and mugs adorned with leaf imprints and her own hand carved designs.
While creating new stoneware, she often imagines how each piece will be used to entertain and enhance others’ lives.
