Once her children were attending school full time, Kay Jaramillo enrolled in welding classes to learn how to make trellises and topiary stands. Soon she was selling her trellises at the local nursery and growing an appreciative fan base.
She works with mild steel, iron, recycled items, hardware and miscellaneous metal objects that are just too good to go to waste. She also creates custom pieces incorporating stained glass, unusual rocks, ceramics and other sentimental items as needed.
House brooches (aka wall art) and trellises are her main categories but she also makes large free-standing sculptures, tables and ornamental gates. She enjoys making art that surprises, amuses and inspires the viewer.
