Iris Grundler attended Catholic University in Washington DC where she received a BSAT in Architecture. After she got started in the field of architecture she felt creatively unfulfilled and turned to painting and then pottery in her spare time.
All her pottery is hand-thrown and hand built with porcelain, black clay, brown speckle and white stoneware. Working with the Sgraffito method, she varies her designs according to the limitations of the specific clay used. Her Peruvian ancestry and North American lifestyle combined create in a distinct multi-cultural aesthetic.
