In addition to being a practicing potter, David Fernandez’ occupational titles, past and present, include instructor, innkeeper and public official. He and his wife, Alexa Modderno, operate the Seagrove Stoneware Inn in downtown Seagrove, NC.
Seagrove, known as the “Handmade Pottery Capital of the United States,” attracts legions of pottery buffs every year. David and Alexa’s business encompasses a retail showroom/gallery, a bed and breakfast inn and their studio where they offer pottery workshops. .
David has also served as Town Commissioner and Mayor of Seagrove, NC. He was the recipient of a Craft Fellowship from the National Endowment of the Arts and he also worked as the Director of the Kimball Art Center in Park City, Utah.
