After close to 50 years in his primary field, Brian Donovan went looking for a new vocation in retirement. Since he was drawn to metal work, he began experimenting with copper and electro plating techniques.
He caught a glimpse of a photo of a metal tree made with twisted wire and was seized with the desire to do something similar. He began making dozens of metal trees and then realized he could recreate familiar backyard scenes of campgrounds and woodsy settings.
His enchanting tableaus are pieced together from copper wire, copper sheets, found rocks and discarded granite countertops.
For those times when you can’t hang out in your own backyard swing, you can at least have a charming replica on your desk or side table.
Come see these delightful backyard scenes at the next Sugarloaf Crafts Festival!
