Todd Courtney came up with his crowd pleasing DIRT seasoning mix while simply trying to reproduce a family friend’s much loved recipe.
By the early 2000’s, he had developed a seasoning everyone loved and he was receiving orders for more. With the enthusiastic support of his wife, Holly, and some inspiration from CNBC’s show, “The Big Idea” hosted by Donny Deutsch, Todd’s DIRT Seasonings and Marinades launched in August 2007.
Todd’s love of cooking comes from both of his parents, his mother in the kitchen and his father on the grill. He furthered his knowledge global cuisines by watching celebrity chefs like Jeff Smith of The Frugal Gourmet, Justin Wilson, Anthony Bourdain, Paula Deen and Rachel Ray.
In addition to his original DIRT seasoning, Todd has created Chesapeake DIRT, Bayou DIRT and a salt-free seasoning, Low Down DIRT.
