Jewelry artist, Joanne “Joey” Burtaine brings together semi-precious stones, metals, crystals and beads from around the world to create one-of-a-kind jewelry that makes a bold, beautiful statement. Her unique, hand crafted jewelry runs the gamut from ethnic to edgy and is typically bursting with color. Each piece features a myriad of colors, textures & finishes from matte to high-gloss.
Coming from a family of talented artists, Burtaine has always naturally gravitated towards design. After graduating from Cornell University with degrees in psychology and clothing design, Burtaine’s career took several detours (including working in New York City for ten years). She ultimately returned to her passion of mixing color, shape and design in the form of 'feel beautiful' custom-created jewelry.
Burtaine is always searching for inspiration and adding to her collections. Her Michalena Collection is inspired by treasures found on ancient trade routes from Asia to Europe, and blends the past with modern elements to add contemporary pop.
